The Konus Nuclear 1x22 #7217 is a compact red/green dot sight with eight brightness levels and a dual high/low mounting system. It is designed for fast, both-eyes-open aiming on compatible rifles, shotguns, pistols, airsoft replicas, and archery equipment.
Important: “1x22” means 1x magnification with a 22 mm lens. The aiming dot measures 3 MOA, not 1 MOA. The manufacturer does not specify the windage and elevation adjustment value per click.
Optical Features
The 1x optical system maintains a natural field of view and makes it easier to track moving targets. Unlimited eye relief allows flexible placement along the rail and quick aiming without requiring an exact eye position.
The 3 MOA dot covers approximately 8.7 cm at 100 m and 4.4 cm at 50 m. This provides a practical balance between rapid target acquisition and aiming precision at common short-to-medium engagement distances.

Dual Mounting System
The package includes low and elevated mounting configurations. The low mount keeps the optical axis close to the rail, while the supplied riser raises the sight when the platform design or shooting position requires a higher line of sight.
Both configurations are compatible with Weaver and Picatinny rails. Unlike the Nuclear-QR model, Konus does not describe the #7217 mounting system as quick-release.
Field Performance
Konus Nuclear is particularly useful for hunting in dense vegetation, dynamic sport shooting, and airsoft scenarios where awareness and quick transitions between targets are more important than magnification. Switching between red and green illumination helps maintain visible contrast against different terrain and target backgrounds.
The sight is nitrogen-filled and specified as waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for active field use. Konus does not publish an IP rating or immersion depth, so the optic should not be treated as submersible.
Installation and Zeroing
- Ensure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction.
- Select the low mount or elevated riser according to the platform and preferred sight height.
- Position the mount in a suitable Weaver or Picatinny rail slot and tighten it evenly.
- Install the CR2032 battery according to the indicated polarity.
- Begin zeroing from a stable rest at 25 m, then confirm the zero at the intended operating distance.
- Fire a controlled group and adjust windage and elevation toward the group’s centre.
- Recheck the mounting hardware and zero after the first shooting session.
Use a low or medium brightness setting during zeroing. Excessive illumination can make the dot appear larger and reduce precision on small targets.
Maintenance
Remove loose dust with an optical blower or soft lens brush before wiping the lens with a clean microfiber cloth. Do not apply firearm oils, aggressive solvents, or household glass cleaners to the optical surfaces and seals.
Before hunting or training, check the dot intensity, battery condition, mount tension, and zero. Remove the battery if the sight will be stored for an extended period.
