Binocular Microscope CAMPUS-2 1000x

The Bridge Between Academic Study and Laboratory Practice

The Konus CAMPUS-2 is an advanced biological microscope that provides the features and precision of a professional laboratory instrument in a versatile and user-friendly package. Designed for discerning students, educators, and advanced hobbyists, it combines a high-quality optical system with robust mechanical controls, making it the ideal tool for detailed biological, histological, and clinical examinations. Professional Optics in Split, Croatia, offers this exceptional microscope, providing the tools for discovery with competitive EU pricing and fast, reliable shipping.

Core Optical System: Clarity and Precision

At the heart of the CAMPUS-2 is a sophisticated optical path designed for high-resolution imaging. The system is built around four DIN achromatic objectives (4x, 10x, 40x, and 100x oil-immersion) that deliver crisp, high-contrast images with minimal color distortion across the entire field of view. Paired with two 10x wide-field (WF) eyepieces, the microscope provides a powerful magnification range of 40x, 100x, 400x, and 1000x. The 360° revolving binocular head allows for comfortable, shared viewing and is adjustable for interpupillary distance, ensuring an ergonomic experience for any user.

Precision Illumination and Contrast Control

Proper illumination is critical for microscopy, and the CAMPUS-2 excels with a fully controllable system.

  • Bright LED Light: A variable-intensity 0.5W LED provides bright, cool, and daylight-balanced transmitted light.

  • Abbe Condenser & Iris Diaphragm: A professional-grade Abbe condenser with an iris diaphragm allows the user to precisely control the cone of light hitting the specimen, which is essential for optimizing contrast, depth of field, and resolution.

  • Filter Holder: The integrated filter holder includes four color filters (orange, white, light blue, green) to enhance the visibility of specific, stained, or low-contrast specimens.

Mechanical Stage and Focusing Mechanism

Specimen manipulation is seamless and precise thanks to the professional-grade mechanical components.

  • Movable Stage: A generous, graduated stage features coaxial Vernier controls for smooth and accurate X-Y axis movement, allowing you to systematically scan a slide.

  • Dual-Speed Focusing: Coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs provide rapid initial focusing and exceptionally precise micro-adjustments, critical for achieving perfect sharpness at high magnifications.

  • Safety Stop: A built-in end-stop prevents the objective from crashing into and damaging slides, protecting your valuable specimens and optics.

Unmatched Versatility: Power and Portability

A standout feature of the CAMPUS-2 is its dual power capability. It can be operated corded with the included AC power adapter for permanent lab setups or cordlessly using three rechargeable AAA batteries, making it perfect for fieldwork, presentations, or use in locations without convenient power outlets. The entire assembly is housed in a robust, all-metal frame for maximum stability and durability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the 100x objective require "immersion oil"?
At 1000x total magnification, light passing through the air gap between the slide and the objective lens is refracted (bent), causing significant loss of resolution. Immersion oil has the same refractive index as glass, so it creates a continuous optical path. By placing a drop of oil to "bridge" this gap, you prevent refraction, allowing the objective to capture more light and resolve much finer details, which is essential for viewing bacteria or cellular structures.

What is the benefit of an adjustable Abbe condenser with an iris?
The Abbe condenser focuses the light from the illuminator onto the specimen. By raising or lowering it and opening or closing the iris diaphragm, you control the angle and intensity of the light cone. Closing the iris increases contrast and depth of field (ideal for unstained specimens), while opening it provides higher resolution and brightness (ideal for stained, detailed specimens). This adjustability is a key feature of professional microscopes that gives you complete control over your image quality.
