Holosun Ronin AEMS-MAX-RD — Enclosed Reflex Sight with Red MRS Reticle and 40×30 mm Objective Window

The Holosun Ronin AEMS-MAX-RD is the red-reticle version of the Ronin enclosed reflex sight series, featuring a 40×30 mm (1.57″×1.18″) optical window — approximately three times the viewing area of the standard AEMS — in the same sealed aluminum housing. The sight delivers an MRS reticle system, triple-source power (CR2032 + Solar Failsafe + supercapacitor), Shake Awake, and the Ronin Dragon engraving developed in collaboration with Tu Lam of Ronin Tactics.

The red LED variant is the preferred choice for indoor CQB, overcast and low-contrast lighting conditions, and PCC/competition shooting where a red dot provides sufficient brightness without the higher current draw of the green LED.

Housing and Construction

Machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with stealth matte black anodizing. Weight with mount is 295 g (10.4 oz), housing dimensions 49×64 mm (1.94″×2.51″). Glass flip-down lens covers for front and rear are included. Rated IPX8 for full submersion with 1000 G vibration resistance. Working temperature range is −30°C to +60°C, storage −40°C to +65°C. Side-loading CR2032 tray allows battery replacement without removing the sight from the rail.

Optics and MRS Reticle

Multi-layer anti-reflective coated lenses with 1× magnification, unlimited eye relief, and zero parallax at all distances. The 40×30 mm window area is roughly three times that of a standard AEMS.

Multi-Reticle System (MRS) — three reticle modes:

• 2 MOA dot — precision aiming at medium and extended distances
• 65 MOA Circle — rapid target acquisition at close range
• Circle-Dot — 2 MOA dot inside 65 MOA ring for universal application

Reticle color: red. The red LED draws less current than the equivalent green LED, marginally extending battery life. Red reticles perform best in low-ambient-light conditions — overcast days, indoor environments, and transitions through shade — where there is no dominant red background to reduce contrast.

Triple Power System

1. CR2032 battery (3V) — up to 50,000 hours at level 6 dot mode
2. Solar Failsafe — ambient light continuously charges the internal circuit; the sight operates without battery drain in sufficient lighting
3. Supercapacitor — approximately 200 hours of autonomous backup in dot mode at level 6 with no battery and no light source

Technical Specifications

Shake Awake and Lock Mode

Shake Awake powers down the LED after 10 minutes of inactivity and restores to last-used brightness on any movement — no missed shots due to a powered-down sight. Lock Mode prevents accidental button presses during carry or transport — activated by simultaneously holding both brightness buttons. The QD mount lever allows the sight to be stripped from the rail and reattached without re-zeroing.

Magnifier Compatibility

The Lower 1/3 Co-Witness mount at 41.4 mm bore height aligns correctly with standard magnifiers (Holosun HM3X, Vortex Micro 3×, Sig JULIET3) on AR-platform carbines. The AEMS footprint is directly compatible with other AEMS-standard bases without additional adapters.

Field Applications

AR-15 and carbines. The 40×30 mm window combined with the 65 MOA Circle mode delivers holographic-class target acquisition speed at significantly lower cost. The sealed housing survives the abuse of patrol and field conditions without lens damage.

CQB and dynamic shooting. Red dot in Circle mode provides one of the fastest sight pictures available for room-to-room transitions. The large window allows target tracking during recoil and weapon movement without losing the aiming point.

PCC and competition. Red dot is the traditional preference for pistol-caliber carbine competition. The 50,000-hour battery life essentially eliminates battery management as a match-day consideration.
