Thermal monocular NVECTECH PATRIOT 2 L50
NVECTECH PATRIOT 2 L50 Thermal Monocular
50mm objective, 2900m detection range (1900m more than L19, 1400m more than L25, 900m more than L35). 384×288px VOx sensor, ≤18mK sensitivity, 50Hz. 1024×768 SONY AMOLED display. 1.8x optical + 4x digital zoom. 20+ h battery, USB Type-C. GPS/compass/azimuth/altitude/temperature integrated.
Detection Range: What 2900m Actually Means
2900m human body independently verified (military-standard 0.3m target). Game animals (elk): 3200m+ identification on clear days. Small targets (foxes, coyotes): 2000-2500m discrimination. Vehicle engines: 4000m+ thermal signature detection.
Comparison perspective: L50 achieves detection parity with H50 (both 2900m) through pure optical superiority. L50 uses standard 384×288 sensor (same as L19/L25/L35) but 50mm glass compensates through raw light gathering. Result: identical range, lower cost than H50, proven battery longevity.
Why 50mm Objective Works
50mm = 1.4× larger than 35mm objective, 2.6× larger than 25mm. Each additional millimeter extends range predictably—50mm reaches the ceiling of practical single-objective thermal detection without exotic lens designs.
Physics reality: Microbolometer thermal sensitivity maxes at ~18mK across industry. Extending detection beyond 2900m requires either:
Larger matrix (640×512 H-series) = power drain + expense
L50 sidesteps both: pure optical solution, standard 384×288 matrix, proven 20h battery.
Practical Application: L50 vs. Competitors
vs. L35: L35 covers 2000m comfortably. L50 adds 900m additional detection—45% range extension from same body. That extra 900m transforms scouting: identifies distant thermal signatures L35 misses entirely. Difference between "area clear" vs. "activity confirmed at 2800m."
vs. H50: Both reach 2900m. H50 offers 640×512 resolution (3× more pixels) but trades 4 hours battery life (16h vs. 20h). L50 offers proven 20h endurance—critical for multi-day expeditions. Choose H50 if detail matters more; L50 if range + endurance prioritized.
Magnification & Optics
1.8x base magnification (standard across L-series). 4x digital zoom without quality loss through 384×288 resolution. Continuous variable zoom enables smooth target tracking across extended distances—critical when observing at 2000m+ ranges.
Integrated sensors display GPS waypoints, 360° compass, azimuth, barometric altitude, ambient temperature simultaneously. Extended-range hunting requires precise bearing/distance communication; all data visible without menu navigation.
Video & Recording
384×288px 50Hz thermal video + audio. 64GB storage = 20-30 hours continuous video. HDMI simultaneous output for external recording systems. USB export without software restrictions.
Practical note: Video at extended ranges (2000m+) captures thermal identification on subjects invisible to naked eye. Expeditionary documentation captures species/behavior patterns at distances standard thermal devices cannot reach.
Battery & Maintenance
20+ hours continuous operation (L-series standard excellence). USB Type-C charging accepts standard phone/power bank chargers. 0-100% battery percentage indicator. 18650 cells user-replaceable with standard retail batteries.
Field reality: Extended 2900m detection encourages marathon observation sessions. 20h battery endurance enables full-day plus overnight operations. H50 (16h) forces battery swaps during extended deployments; L50 delivers complete autonomy.
