Housing and Build
The body is machined from 6061 hard-anodized aluminum, weighing 122 g (4.3 oz) without the mount. Rated IPX8 for full water submersion and tested to 1000 G vibration resistance, the ARO-EVO-RD2 is built to handle recoil from centerfire calibers and adverse weather conditions without compromise. The beveled front lens minimizes forward light reflection — a practical detail in bright-sun or woodland environments.
Reticle
The 2 MOA red dot at 650 nm wavelength provides a precise aiming point that covers approximately 2 inches at 100 yards, suitable for accurate shots at medium and extended range. The sight is parallax-free with unlimited eye relief, allowing fast mounting regardless of cheek weld position. This model features a fixed single reticle — no multi-reticle switching.

Power: Solar Failsafe + Shake Awake
The integrated solar panel supplements the CR2032 battery under the Solar Failsafe system. An onboard ambient light sensor continuously adjusts reticle brightness in Auto Mode — no manual intervention required when moving between open ground and covered positions. Shake Awake cuts power after 10 minutes of stillness and restores full operation instantly on movement, preserving battery life without any delay in readiness. Lockout Mode protects brightness settings from accidental changes during carry or while wearing gear.
Mounting, Zeroing, and Maintenance
The ARO-EVO-RD2 includes two Picatinny mounts: a 1.63″ co-witness high mount for use alongside iron sights, and a 1.05″ low mount for conventional-stock configurations. Both mounts install and remove without tools beyond the included multi-tool. The side-loading CR2032 battery tray allows battery swaps without dismounting the optic. Zero is set via standard 0.5 MOA/click turrets across a ±50 MOA range. Zeroing at 25 or 50 m takes only a few adjustments.
Field Applications
Hunting. The enclosed design keeps lenses clean in rain, mud, and brush. Auto brightness eliminates manual adjustments when light changes rapidly at dawn or dusk. The 2 MOA dot is precise enough for ethical shots at hunting distances up to 200 m.
Airsoft & Tactical Sport. The sealed housing protects the emitter and internals from direct BB impacts and field debris. The 26 mm window provides a wide, uninhibited sight picture for both-eyes-open target engagement in dynamic scenarios.
