Holosun SCS-VP9-GR — Solar Charging Green Dot Sight for Heckler & Koch VP9 OR / SFP9 OR

The Holosun SCS-VP9-GR (Solar Charging Sight) is an open micro reflex sight built exclusively for the Heckler & Koch VP9 OR and SFP9 OR. It mounts directly to the optics-ready slide with two T10 Torx screws — no adapter plate, no riser — while maintaining co-witness capability with factory-height iron sights. The sight operates on a solar-first architecture: a built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery is continuously maintained by an integrated solar panel with dual multi-directional sensors. Under any ambient light source, the sight runs indefinitely and requires no battery replacement at any point in its service life.

Compatibility: VP9 OR and SFP9 OR only. Does not fit VP9SK, VP40, USP, P30, or any other HK model without the native VP9/SFP9 OR slide cut.

Housing and Construction

The housing is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum with a Titanium surface finish (hard anodized), providing a durable, corrosion-resistant shell at minimal weight. Lenses are aspherical with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, producing a clear, high-contrast image with zero parallax from 25 m. The housing is nitrogen-purged to prevent fogging during rapid temperature transitions. A single function button on the left side of the housing manages brightness control and reticle mode switching without requiring a grip change.

MRS Reticle System

The Multi-Reticle System (MRS) cycles through three modes with one button press. The 2 MOA dot delivers a fine aiming point for precise shots at medium and longer distances. The 32 MOA Circle is sized specifically to match a BDS falling steel plate at 15 m — a deliberate design choice that gives competitive shooters a direct visual reference without mental calculation, unlike the more common 65 MOA ring. Solar Charging Power System

The SCS-VP9-GR treats the solar panel as the primary energy source and the internal battery as the buffer — the inverse of conventional solar-backup optics. With no light at all, the internal battery sustains 20,000 hours of operation. Under the lighting conditions of daily carry — office light, overcast daylight, indirect sunlight through a vehicle window — the battery never depletes. Dual multi-directional sensors read ambient brightness accurately regardless of pistol orientation or holster draw angle, ensuring automatic brightness always reflects actual field conditions. Override Mode lifts brightness 2–3 levels above automatic for 30 minutes on a single button press, covering transitions from dark interior environments to full sun. A blinking reticle warns of low battery days before the level becomes critical. Shake Awake and Last Setting Memory are absent by design — neither is needed when the sight is always on.

Mounting and Zeroing

The SCS-VP9-GR attaches to the VP9/SFP9 OR slide with two T10 Torx screws using only the included key — no additional tools or plates required. At 13.4 mm sight line height, factory-height VP9 iron sights remain in full co-witness position and function as a complete emergency backup. Windage and elevation are adjusted via recessed 1 MOA/click turrets within ±30 MOA travel.

Field Applications

EDC and duty carry. The solar-first system removes battery management entirely from the VP9 maintenance routine. With normal daily light exposure the sight maintains itself indefinitely. At 38 g it adds no perceptible weight change to the pistol and requires no activation before drawing — always on, always adjusted.

IPSC, USPSA, BDS competition. The 32 MOA circle is purpose-sized for BDS falling plates at 15 m, eliminating visual estimation at the moment of engagement.
